Institution of Mechanical Engineers' Unmanned Aircraft Systems Challenge (UAS Challenge) asks teams of undergraduates to undertake a full design and build cycle of a UAS with specific mission objectives.
This year students from 13 universities across the UK including two teams from EPSRC UK-RAS Network partner, University of Southampton, will compete in a fly-off on 1st and 2nd July 2015 at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome and Proving Ground near Leicester. From September 2014 undergraduate teams designed and built their UAS to demonstrate its operation in a humanitarian supply mission scenario in the final fly-off.
The UAS Challenge bridges the gap between academia and industry in developing applied UAS-related activities; giving students the perfect opportunity to strengthen links with industry and universities in their area and enhance employment opportunities for the graduates in aerospace.
We wish the teams good luck!
